Caring for Caregivers
Blue Artisan Church Vancouver

In a fragmented and exhausted world, many caregivers carry significant emotional, spiritual, and relational burdens with limited support for themselves. We believe that caring for caregivers is an act of solidarity, justice, and community healing.

Our goal is to become a community of sanctuary for those who care for others including frontline workers, chaplains, nonprofit leaders, and health professionals, especially those serving in and around the Downtown Eastside (DTES). The project offers opportunities for rhythms of care, spiritual support, creative connection, and practical resources for support. This can include our annual retreat for caregivers, regular gatherings for caregivers, grief circles, art workshops and connection to pastoral care for spiritual support.

History of the Project:

In 2024 as part of a 13-week series on “place” Artisan discerned that part of our place-related identity is to serve as a sanctuary for frontline workers and caregivers. This acknowledges that Artisan Church is not at this point in a position to be starting or stewarding frontline ministries.  So, we see ourselves as stewarding what we’ve been given on behalf of the community. Providing sanctuary for frontline workers by mobilizing the gifts of play, art, community, contemplative practices, and vocational skills.
